Have You Ever Wondered If You’re Showing Up the “Right” Way at Work?

I was at an event recently, and someone asked me a simple question.
Why did you choose coaching, speaking, and leadership development?

The answer is not complicated, but it is personal.

I was a teenage mom, and I entered the workforce having to figure everything out on my own. There was no roadmap. No one was walking me through how to navigate professional spaces, communicate in rooms where I felt unsure, or advocate for myself. I learned through trial and error. Sometimes I got it right. A lot of times, I didn’t.

What I remember most is not just the learning curve. It was the feeling underneath it. Constantly wondering if I was saying the right thing. Showing up the right way. Belonging in the room at all.

And what I realized over time is that so many people are still doing the same thing. They are capable, driven, and talented, yet quietly questioning themselves. Spending energy trying to decode unspoken rules instead of focusing on the work they are there to do.

That is why I do this work.

I want people to feel a sense of belonging in the spaces they have earned the right to be in. And belonging is not just a mindset. It is built through understanding. From dining and social etiquette to leadership presence, communication, and self-advocacy, these are all part of the rules of engagement that too often go unspoken.

When people understand those rules, something shifts. They stop second-guessing themselves. They stop overthinking every interaction. They stop trying to get it “right.”

And that is where authenticity actually begins.

Authenticity is not just about being yourself. It is about having the clarity and confidence to show up fully, without constantly questioning if you are doing or saying the right thing.

That is the work.
